Students to Address AI, Fashion, and Gender Equality at Model UN Event
Midland, Ontario – On April 29, the Simcoe County District School Board holds its 36th Model UN event. Over 170 students from nine SCDSB secondary schools meet at the event. They debate issues that affect our world. The debates cover topics such as artificial intelligence, fast fashion, and gender equality.
A Platform for Young Voices
Students join the event as delegates. Each student stands in for a country from one of five regions. They speak and act for their assigned nation. In small discussion groups, delegates weigh security and ethics in artificial intelligence. They also talk about waste in fast fashion and fairness in gender roles. After these talks, students share each country’s view in a general assembly. They build their arguments in a clear and simple way. This event helps students think well and speak in public.
